Day #50 (cont) Ahh!!!! Today was a beautiful day! After a restful stay with some wonderful host families from an Indonesian church (the "Philadelphia Praise Center"), Derek and I set out with Mr. and Mrs. Stambaugh on the last leg of our journey. Carried to the shore (77.4 miles) by a gentle and soothing breeze, we found ourselves reminiscing about our 3,127 mile tour across the US in moments that seemed all too surreal. The many memories, the friends, the laughter, the hardships and the blessings seem like a blurr as we sit here now looking back over the past few months. But in all our adventures, God's continued gifts of strength, sufficiency, safety, and wisdom permeate each and every memory and story. Now, enough with these reflective ramblings-today was great! God's continued hand of protection guided us along to the Ocean City board walk. So far, we have concluded that we really like the state of NJ. Most of the roads that we took were smoothly paved (a nice break from some of the rippling and cracked roads of PA) and had an amply sufficient shoulder. The only trouble we had was finding restrooms. Apparently the people of NJ don't experience certain biological forces of nature at the same frequency that we do. So, we hopped around between gas stations, stores and other various locations throughout the day trying to locate a restroom of sorts. But, God provided for us in our times of need, and we survived. During the trip we have seen a wide range of odd signs and posters, but today we were in for a treat: we saw our first "turtle crossing" sign. It was a refreshing thought to think that we were not the slowest moving hazard on the road. I also commend a state that seeks to take interest in the welfare of such an interesting animal : ) As far as future plans, Derek has talked of joining the Tour De France, and I am looking forward to not biking for a few weeks. All joking aside, we are very appreciative of all that God has done to provide for us and for the village of Fisheni over these past few months. It's hard to imagine that our coast to coast endeavor is completed! Looking back, it is even more intriguing to realize that what started out as a dare between friends, snowballed into something much bigger and of a significantly more eternal value: a large-scale project that sought to raise awareness and support for the struggling villagers of Fisheni. Amidst all the memories and stories we cannot begin to forget the real reason for the trip: the people of Fisheni. So, please continue to keep the villagers of Fisheni in your thoughts and prayers. Also pray for wisdom and guidance as World Vision seeks to apply the funds that Women of Vision has raised in support of their African Ville'. The Vision on Wheels website (www.cedarville.edu/visiononwheels) will remain up and running and will continue to accept donations made toward the Fisheni Village. In fact, we expect more donations to come in because we are planning to share at two more churches. Also, we would like to give a shout out to all of those who helped out with the project! Without everyone's help Vision on Wheels couldn't have been possible. Thanks!!!!
