Post Trip #3

Hello again!  I wanted to report to you all one last time about my talk with Believers Bible Fellowship in Frederick, MD.  I was able to speak there on Sunday and it went well.  The congregation seemed interested in the ride and what God was able to do through it.  I was pleased with the way God enabled me to share and keep the message fresh.  So thank you for your prayers.

I think that pretty much wraps up the Vision on Wheels campaign.  We expect more publicity through some mailings coming from Cedarville and an article in the World Vision magazine, but Jason and I are finished with visiting churches.  We thank God and you for remembering us during the entire process.

Thanks for checking in one last time!

Post Trip #2

Hello again.  I have been meaning to post for a while now, but this is the first that I have gotten around to doing it.

First, we have a dollar amount raised for the trip....$6,400!  This number is still on the rise, so we'll keep you posted down the road.  Thank you all so much for giving!  God has worked in many hearts and the effect of your generosity will be enormous!

Second, sharing about Vision on Wheels has gone well for me (Derek).  I had a chance to share stories and our mission with Calvary Bible Church in Hanover, and it went well.  People seemed to be interested and I felt that God gave me the grace to be able to communicate.  So thanks for your prayers.  This coming Sunday I am planning to share with Believers Bible Fellowship in Frederick, MD.  Maybe I'll bike there to put another state on my completed list

Thanks for checking in!

Post trip #1

Hello again.  I want to let you know some stats from the trip, give some more thanks, and let you all know what is coming up.

86.9 = average miles per day

16.8 = average miles per hour

36 = biking days

14 = rest days

7 days, 18 hours, 32 minutes = total time we were on the bike (186:32)

1,007,280 = how many times our pedals went around! (at a cadence of 90)

However important these stats are, they are insignificant compared to the impact that Vision on Wheels can have on the village of Fisheni.  Our ride was designed to raise support and awareness for the village.  As of today, we do not yet have a total dollar amount for you.  Please check back in the next few days to see what the total is up to.  We expect to have more donations in the coming weeks, and that will hopefully raise our total.

We are so thankful for...

Everyone who donated to the Fisheni project.  Your contribution will change lives, and we believe that more people will be in heaven because of this cooperative effort.  Praise God!

Everyone who prayed for Vision on Wheels.  You all made a difference!  Thank You So Much!!

In the coming weeks, Derek will be sharing at two churches in the southeastern section of PA.  We hope that these opportunities will be a blessing to us and to the people with whom we share.  Please remember these things in your prayers.

Thanks for checking in!

ps - in the coming days, we will be posting some dollar amounts and letting you know how post-trip wrap-up is progressing!

Day #50 (cont)

Ahh!!!!  Today was a beautiful day!  After a restful stay with some wonderful host families from an Indonesian church (the "Philadelphia Praise Center"), Derek and I set out with Mr. and Mrs. Stambaugh on the last leg of our journey.  Carried to the shore (77.4 miles) by a gentle and soothing breeze, we found ourselves reminiscing about our 3,127 mile tour across the US in moments that seemed all too surreal.  The many memories, the friends, the laughter, the hardships and the blessings seem like a blurr as we sit here now looking back over the past few months.  But in all our adventures, God's continued gifts of strength, sufficiency, safety, and wisdom permeate each and every memory and story.

Now, enough with these reflective ramblings-today was great!  God's continued hand of protection guided us along to the Ocean City board walk.  So far, we have concluded that we really like the state of NJ.  Most of the roads that we took were smoothly paved (a nice break from some of the rippling and cracked roads of PA) and had an amply sufficient shoulder.  The only trouble we had was finding restrooms.  Apparently the people of NJ don't experience certain biological forces of nature at the same frequency that we do.  So, we hopped around between gas stations, stores and other various locations throughout the day trying to locate a restroom of sorts.  But, God provided for us in our times of need, and we survived.

During the trip we have seen a wide range of odd signs and posters, but today we were in for a treat: we saw our first "turtle crossing" sign.  It was a refreshing thought to think that we were not the slowest moving hazard on the road.  I also commend a state that seeks to take interest in the welfare of such an interesting animal : )

As far as future plans, Derek has talked of joining the Tour De France, and I am looking forward to not biking for a few weeks.

All joking aside, we are very appreciative of all that God has done to provide for us and for the village of Fisheni over these past few months.  It's hard to imagine that our coast to coast endeavor is completed! Looking back, it is even more intriguing to realize that what started out as a dare between friends, snowballed into something much bigger and of a significantly more eternal value: a large-scale project that sought to raise awareness and support for the struggling villagers of Fisheni.  Amidst all the memories and stories we cannot begin to forget the real reason for the trip: the people of Fisheni.  So, please continue to keep the villagers of Fisheni in your thoughts and prayers.  Also pray for wisdom and guidance as World Vision seeks to apply the funds that Women of Vision has raised in support of their African Ville'.

The Vision on Wheels website (www.cedarville.edu/visiononwheels) will remain up and running and will continue to accept donations made toward the Fisheni Village.  In fact, we expect more donations to come in because we are planning to share at two more churches.

Also, we would like to give a shout out to all of those who helped out with the project!  Without everyone's help Vision on Wheels couldn't have been possible.  Thanks!!!!
